Karmveer Vitthal Ramaji Shinde Shikshan Sanstha, Gadhinglaj, has been a cornerstone of educational development in the region. Established with the vision of providing quality education to students, the institute has continuously evolved to meet the growing academic and infrastructural needs of society.

The journey of this prestigious institution dates back to 1964, when Shivraj College was founded by Late V. T. Patil, Member of Parliament (MP) of Kolhapur, under the governance of Tararani University. In 1974, the administration of the college was transferred to Karmveer Vitthal Ramaji Shinde Shikshan Sanstha, marking the beginning of a transformative era under the dynamic leadership of Hon. Shri. Balasaheb alias R. S. Mane, the President of the Sanstha.

With a commitment to fulfilling the educational aspirations of students in the region, Hon. Shri. Balasaheb Mane took decisive steps to introduce the Science faculty at both Junior and Senior College levels. His dedication to academic growth was further strengthened by Shri. D. S. Kadam, Vice-President of the Sanstha, supported the establishment and operational expenses of the Science faculty.

Recognizing the need for advanced infrastructure, Hon. Shri. Balasaheb Mane and Shri. D. S. Kadam focused on the expansion of the college campus. Their unwavering efforts led to the construction of new buildings, with the foundation stone being laid by Hon. Yashwantrao Chavan and Hon. Vasantdada Patil, the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This milestone marked the beginning of a new phase of development for the institute.

Over the years, Shivraj College has made significant progress in academic excellence, expanding its programs to include a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The leadership mantle was later passed to Prof. Kisanrao V. Kurade, who, as Chairman, played a pivotal role in elevating the institute’s reputation. Under his guidance, the institution has consistently produced top-performing students, achieving remarkable success in Academics, Sports, Culture and Social Service.

Today, this institute has established itself as one of the most prestigious and ideal educational institutions in the Shivaji University region. Its commitment to fostering independence in the fields of Education, Social Service, Culture and Sports has earned it a distinguished place in Maharashtra’s academic landscape.
